Good vibes, Good Lives

Sometimes you have to unplug yourself from the world for a moment, so you can reset yourself.

In the book Good Vibes, Good Life, Vex King explores how self-love is the key to unlocking one’s greatness. He is an entrepreneur who first came to fame as a music producer and later founded the brand Bon Vita, which promotes feel-good culture around the world. King has explored and conquered the world of social media while being a mind coach. Written by an experienced and best-selling author, this book is divided into seven parts, written very consciously and harbors easy language and vocabulary to propagate the message to a wider audience. It caters to every person who struggles to achieve self-love and wanders around in search of some magic tonic to unlock their inner potential. This book is dedicated to the author’s mother, whom he considers his inspiration and praises her for her strength, perseverance and faith in the tough circumstances of their life.

Self-love is the balance between accepting yourself as you are while knowing you deserve better, and then working towards it. The book breaks down the notion of loving the self into practical goals and theories, and King has pencilled those into chapters which explore different principles of life. It tells what to do in each step of the journey of becoming a better version of oneself and elaborates on how to do it, not leaving the reader to ponder about the approach and fall into the loop again. The theories which the author talks about are actually propositions which exist in our intuition, but we are not able to give a name to those, and the writer has done a great job in naming and putting those in words to make us and our subconscious realise them. Ideas are explained using real-life situations and examples from the author’s life itself, which makes it relatable for the reader and increases the credibility of the theories as well. The principle of making yourself a priority is thoroughly explained, along with emphasis on manifesting one’s goals, the conception of pain and purpose and so on. My personal favourite topic discussed in this work is ‘Matter of Vibes’. The author has pointed out how there is something missing from the Law of Attraction, which is immensely popular in today’s scenario. He exerts prominence on the ‘good vibes only’ rule around his life and encourages the reader to follow it as the first step. He has outlined this topic by stating that we should surround ourselves with people who emit vibes similar to us, those who feel positive from within and such indications we get from our subconscious only.

The notion of Positive Lifestyle Habits is highlighted by stressing the need to surround oneself with positive people, habits and things which have high energy and vibrations. It is advised to take some time out of the daily hustle for yourself and find some inspiration in order to stay clear of gossip and drama.Such things emit ‘low vibrations'.

The author has discussed the concept of vibrations as something we slang as ‘Vibes’ in the Gen-Z language. His idea states that each and everything in the world emits such vibrations, which are either positive or negative and have a huge impact on our lives. The transition from steps of accepting oneself and manifesting better things is fluidly initiated by the writer, and makes the reader stay focused and engaged while reading.

Positive thinking is an essential part of a healthy and productive routine of life. Your mentality becomes your reality. A person who only thinks about sad things for a week can have a bad mood for an entire month, while on the other hand, a person who thinks about just good things even in hard times and stays optimistic has high chances of receiving good opportunities and happiness in the long run. All of it depends on our relation and conversations with the universe and what energy we put out. Positive affirmations, imagination of a better future, and writing down goals make us a whole different but better individual. And the author has explained all this using instances from his college life and his career furthermore.

The book is made interesting for the audience and especially for the people who stay away from monotonous and boring black and white ink by including various cool doodles. The author inculcates several quotes which provide the essence of the text in every chapter, making it engaging. From materialistic to abstract, the author talks about all the distractions in human life, preventing one from achieving goals in life, no matter what they are. He uses a conversational and a non-technical tone suitable for everyone to understand and interpret. Good Vibes, Good Life stands out for its sincerity and simplicity. It serves as a motivational guide while being a reminder that true happiness comes from within. The author has done a commendable job and penned a book which cultivates an abundance of positive energy in the readers and encourages them to live a life with purpose and joy.
